Privacy policy

Last updated: 16 October 2026

This policy explains how Dan Reynolds, trading as The Chart Mechanics ("we"), uses personal information. We are the data controller. Contact: thechartmechanics@outlook.com.

What we collect

  • When you buy: your name, email address, the products you buy, and for tools the MetaTrader account numbers and broker server you give us. Payment details are handled by our payment provider (the merchant of record) and are never seen or stored by us.
  • When you join the email list: your email address, first name if you give it, and the date you agreed.
  • When you contact us or request a build: what you send through a form or by email.
  • When you visit the site: our host, Netlify, processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver and protect the site. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The site remembers your light or dark choice and calculator settings in your own browser only.

Why we use it

  • To deliver your purchase, build your licensed tool and give support (performance of a contract).
  • To keep sales and licence records for tax and to prevent unlicensed sharing (legal obligation and legitimate interests).
  • To send the free tool and our email newsletter, only if you asked for them (consent). Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To reply to your messages (legitimate interests).

Who we share it with

We don't sell your information. We share it only with services that help us run the business: our payment provider, our website and form host (Netlify), our email service, and our email provider. Some of these may process data outside the UK under recognised safeguards.

How long we keep it

Sales and licence records for six years after the end of the tax year, as UK tax rules require. Email list details until you unsubscribe. Messages and build requests for up to two years unless they become part of an order.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to or restrict how we use it, or take a copy. Email thechartmechanics@outlook.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
